For those of you lucky enough to have an enclosure or covered patio where you can plant beautiful part-shade arrangements. Below I will show you how to create gorgeous part-shade pots to last all Summer long! First I placed elegant Bromeliads side by side. These are technically a tropical that sprout beautiful arrays or colors from the center. Unlike some tropical plants, these like part-shade. I absolutely love these for their strappy leaves and pops of bright colors. They will stay beautiful until October! Second I added "Tapestry" Fancy Leaf Caladiums. These also love part-shade,but will not tolerate hot afternoon sun. They will give your Summer pots nice pops of color and texture. Next is one of my favorite Begonia varieties! The "Rex" Decorative Begonia. I used one per pot in the center. The way these leaves spiral to give you such beautiful textures and colors is amazing! They will not flower, but will make you so happy! Then I planted some "Caliente Rose" Semi-Trailing Geraniums behind the two Bromeliads. These are great because they are mostly self-cleaning unlike seed Geraniums that need to be pinched back. They are also mildew resistant, bloom in part-shade...absolutely adore! Also, I added "Big Bounce" Pink Impatiens in the center between the Bromeliads! The blooms on these are huge, and will trail down your pot! One of my faves! Then I planted another variety of Geraniums. These are "Blizzard White" Ivy Geraniums! They will fill the pot so nicely, and trail down the sides of your pot! I put them on either side. Lastly, I added a really pretty part-shade trailing plant called Purple Wandering Jew to the front and back of my pot. Funny enough the front of the leaf is a beautiful display of green and white, while the back is a gorgeous shade of dark purple. LOVE!
Part-shade arrangements are so fun because there are so many plants to choose that will give you texture, color, and height! Like I always say...no matter what plant zone you live in you can always create beautiful arrangements! Have fun and if you need plant advice, visit your local nursery or comment below. I love it...I hope you love it too!

I love Summer! All of the flowers are showing their beautiful faces, the birds are chirping, and its time to create Summer pots! There are so many different flowering options during the Summer! Look up your local nursery, go, and have fun! The color combinations are endless! Below I will show you how to bring color, fun, and elegance to your Summer pots! First I placed a Kimberly Queen fern. This will give me a great centerpiece to work off of. Next I added a Croton for texture and interesting color. Remember to look for their pretty sides, and also what direction your pots will be facing. For example, if you are creating front door pots you will want all of their pretty faces to be facing outward. Next comes the Asparagus Ferns. I love these little babies cause they will continue to grow and spill out the sides. I then started adding some trailers. I chose Sweet Potato Vines because they fill in so fast. What is nice about these is that you can trim them to any trailing length you want. Torenia and Trailing Impatiens are some of my favorites too! You can find these at nearly any nursery. They will continue to bloom, grow, and trail over your pots all Summer long until the first frost. Lastly I chose the decorative "Rex" Begonias. I absolutely adore how beautiful and unique the leaves are. They bring such a different color and texture to any pot. Now remember these will not bloom like the waxy leave Begonias, but I love them just the same! Summer time is one of my favorite seasons to plant, the greenery and color combinations are literally endless. Like I always say, never be afraid to experiment with different combinations of plants! Always be conscious of your light exposure and your planting zone...and you'll do great! You can't go wrong when bringing organic beauty to your home! I love it...I hope you love it too! |
