How To Create A Mother's Day Arrangement That Will Last All Year Long

Mother's Day is right around the corner and below I will show you how to create really fun arrangements that can last all year round for a special person in your life. 

​I chose a really cute container that I have had for a very long time. Even with a small container, you can have elegance and drama. 

Like a lot of smaller, decorative containers...this one does not have a drainage hole in the bottom. But don't stress, the secret is to add gravel to the bottom so that the roots have room to breathe and they are not just sitting in damp soil. Then you simply add your soil above that! 

Here are the tropical plants I chose. There are a wide variety of tropical plants to choose from, but make sure to ask your local nursery what will work in the location you choose if you are unsure. 

​I like to add the tallest plant to the rear of the container, then plant the other beauties around it. I chose the Wandering Jew, because it will continue to fill the pot and trail over the sides. The decorative Begonia adds some beautiful colors and texture. The baby Ficus I chose for the rear gives it height and drama. 

​Next to add even more elegance, you can add decorative flowers once you have placed them in floral picks. This will allow them to continue to get the necessary water they need and you can trade them out for different flowers whenever you want! You can find these at any local grocery store that carries flowers. Just place this tube in your arrangement. I like to put mine in the center.  

All three of the arrangements came from one pack of flowers from my local grocery store. 

​Add bright, happy flowers for a fun, eclectic look! 

Or add soft and light flowers for a romantic, elegant look. 

Finally you can add one simple flower for a clean and modern look.
